Wesley Hunter Yackle

August 5, 2003 - June 3, 2006

Wesley Hunter Yackle came into this world on August 5, 2003. He was the light of our lives, our pride and joy, a gift from God. He was our little angel, and he already had his wings.

Wesley always wanted to play football and be a fireman and a tow man, he loved big trucks. He’d stand there and cry when his daddy left on a call, and he’d be there waiting for him when he came home. Wesley was a nature kid. He loved to be outside. He was a daddy’s boy and loved his daddy very much.

June 3, 2006 was a day that changed our lives forever.

Wesley was riding his tricycle in the backyard at our home in Clarksville, Tennessee. His father was backing his flatbed tow truck down the driveway. He turned the truck to the left entering the yard where Wesley had been playing. He did not see Wesley behind his truck and backed over him. I tried to stop him, but it was too late, it happened too fast.

Wesley never played in the backyard, but on that day he did.

His father heard me scream then felt the truck hit something. When he got out and saw Wesley, he picked him up and ran into the front yard with him. He just kept saying he didn’t mean to and asking God to forgive him. He kept saying “Hold on, little buddy, hold on.”

I hope that others are able to learn from our family’s tragedy. Always be aware of children around vehicles. They are quick, curious and unable to sense danger of a slow moving vehicle.

Wesley was an absolutely beautiful little boy — blond hair and these great big blue eyes. He was always smiling and happy.

Wesley, you are dearly loved and deeply missed every single day!
